Making Waves Foundation offer a Winds of Joy Program which is designed to give children with disability and disadvantaged children and youth the opportunity to go sailing. Through our crew, MWF are able to provide positive role models, demonstrating that people with a disability do not have to be confined by it and creating optimism. This program is run entirely by volunteers.

Group bookings of minimum 7 with at least 5 with disability/special needs and a maximum of 3 wheelchairs including can be booked by school or community groups. To book this program please Sign Up on our website and login with your username and password.

If you are one of our authorised crew members and would like to crew, please follow the steps as per above and add your name to the crew list. All crew should register their intention at least 2 weeks prior to their intended sail and be at the boat 1 hour prior to the sail time listed for boat call

Wright of Passage

Making Waves Foundation Wright of Passage program is for young people between the ages of 15 to 18 who are looking for learning options outside of the classroom.

Participants work with our volunteer mentors in a stable workshop environment to construct sailing dinghies, kayaks, and similar projects. Through this process they build confidence, consistency and develop the positive attitudes and skills needed for their journey through education, training, and employment.

The program runs on Wednesdays and Thursdays across the school terms. Alternate Thursdays involve sailing training out on the harbour.

Brisbane Volunteer On Water Training (Man Overboard)

On Water training with Wendy Tuck. 

*DESIGNATED SWIMMER REQUIRED*

We will try to keep you as dry as possible but ultimately cannot guarantee it. If you can be the swimmer for this session, please bring swimmers, towel and/or change of clothes. Don't worry - you will be attached to the boat at all times for safety.

This is a follow on from the inductions that were held on Wednesday, 10 April. 

This will include:

• Man Overboard Training
• Boat familiarisation on Tribe
• Crew level sign off
• Please bring along a list of anything else that you would like covered during this session.

Newcastle - Working bee to prepare for SPS

We need to get a few things done on Tribe before we begin our term 2 programs next week. All help to tidy up and sort through the boat and our old sails in the storage shed would be greatly appreciated.
