Winds of Joy - Sydney - AMLocation: CYCAAddress: 1 New Beach Rd Darling Point NSW 2027 Time: Thu November 9, 10:00 am to Thu November 9, 12:00 pm Passengers: 15 Making Waves Foundation offer a Winds of Joy Program which is designed to give children with disability and disadvantaged children and youth the opportunity to go sailing. Through our crew, MWF are able to provide positive role models, demonstrating that people with a disability do not have to be confined by it and creating optimism. This program is run entirely by volunteers. Group bookings of minimum 7 with at least 5 with disability/special needs and a maximum of 3 wheelchairs including can be booked by school or community groups. Wright of PassageLocation: Woolwich DockAddress: Clarke Road Woolwich NSW 2110 Time: Thu November 9, 9:30 am to Thu November 9, 3:00 pm Passengers: 6 Making Waves Foundation Wright of Passage program is for young people between the ages of 16 to 25, who are looking for learning options outside of the classroom. Students work closely with mentors in refurbishing a sailing vessel, learning in a hands-on environment to develop and understand the basics of trade skills. Enabling participants to build confidence and develop abilities they need when transitioning from school to apprenticeships and employment. The program runs Wednesday and Thursday at Woolwich Dock, working on the project vessel. Alternate weeks are Wednesdays at Woolwich Dock and Friday sailing on the harbour out of the Cruising Yacht Club Australia (CYCA) in Rushcutters Bay. | |
